This Pumpkin Old Fashioned Cocktail is a tasty fall drink recipe that celebrates pumpkin. Cozy and sweet with Mozart Pumpkin Spice Liqueur, this is easy to prepare and gives a fresh fall flavor. Perfect for cocktail hour at home or just you on the couch with a blanket and a cozy fire.

Fall is almost here, which for us means apple cider and pumpkin in everything, so why not add them to a cocktail? If this doesn’t make you think of festive fall things, I don’t know what will!

It’s just the right orange cocktail to drink while in your favorite flannel shirt and leggings, sitting by a window, watching the leaves fall to the ground (or when it snows, we live in Nebraska, lets be real)! The bourbon pumpkin combo is the best for this time of year, right?! Let’s just pretend that’s what you’re doing! Because that’s definitely what I’ll be pretending to do. Ha!

So, we used the Mozart Pumpkin Spice Liqueur as the base for this cocktail!

Mozart Pumpkin Spice Cream Liqueur

Most of the time, pumpkin puree or flavor is added to hot drinks, PSL’s anyone? But, sometimes you don’t want the caffeine or something hot in order to enjoy a fall pumpkin cocktail. The Mozart Pumpkin Spice Liqueur is a mix of chocolate, caramel, and natural pumpkin juice.

Other flavors are cinnamon, clove, vanilla, and maybe a dash of chili. The result is a unique spicy taste, all in a cream liqueur, perfect for fall. The high quality chocolate and pumpkin flavor make it the perfect fireside indulgence. (Remember what I said above?)

This is an unexpected yet delicious cocktail when you are starting to get that pumpkin craving. With this drink, you get to enjoy the best of all worlds with apple, chocolate and whiskey too! Try it in our Halloween Pumpkin Cocktail, too!

Apple Liqueur

We used Apfel Schonauer liqueur in this as well. We loved the combo of apple and pumpkin together in this almost Old Fashioned cocktail. The Apfel Schonauer is a mix of Germany’s best apples and grain spirits. No artificial flavors or coloring, and it has a low alcohol proof and natural sweetness from the apples. It’s more like a thicker apple juice.

If you can’t find it, you can use another brand, but please don’t buy the neon green one. You can always make a homemade apple liqueur too, that is super easy to make!

Pumpkin Cocktail

It only takes a few minutes to put this one together! Although this one has all the basic ingredients of an Old Fashioned – bourbon, sweetener (liqueurs) and bitters. this one needs to be shaken. Most classic Old Fashioned are stirred on ice, or built in the glass. This one, because of the cream liqueur needs to be shaken to break that up.

I can not stress this enough, USE A SHAKER!

Stirring will simply not break up the cream liqueur like you will want it too.
