This Holiday Ginger Whiskey Flip will be a great whiskey cocktail recipe for your Thanksgiving or Holiday table!

In our house the holidays give us lots of excuses to get together with friends and family. All those celebrations are a joy, but somehow we always get to make the cocktails! (I wonder why?!) This year we really have wanted to embrace the seasons and make cocktails that highlight the flavors of each season. In this case, we wanted to focus on that time between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Holiday Ginger Flip

Usually the holiday season is filled with work Christmas parties, family get togethers, and friends wanting to hang out before the craziness of the new year starts! All those gatherings have lots of delicious baked goods that always have some amazing spices in them. It was from those spices that we drew inspiration for this season’s cocktail, the Holiday Ginger Whiskey Flip!

Fittingly, when Cask & Crew approached us to make a cocktail featuring their Ginger Spice Whiskey, we knew we had a great spirit to work with for this season! Ginger is one of our favorite flavors to work with at Thanksgiving and Christmas, so the delicious hit of ginger and spice in Cask & Crew Ginger Spice Whiskey cocktail recipe was a nice addition to our bar top just in time for the holidays!

Cask & Crew’s Ginger Spice Whiskey is the perfect combination of ginger and hints of citrus that brings a great fall and winter flavor to the whiskey. Cask & Crew uses a unique blend of two styles of whiskey, combining fifty one percent Canadian Rye that is aged three years with forty nine percent of a sweet barrel aged American corn whiskey.

The 51/49 blend allows Cask & Crew to create a blended whiskey that is smooth and approachable with just enough bite to delight whiskey lovers. The rye whiskey brings a bold spicy character to the blend. The American corn whiskey brings a smooth sweetness that balances the spice from the rye. Both of these styles work together with the ginger to create a delicious whiskey that has a kick of real ginger, baking spices from the barrel and hints of bright citrus.

What Ingredients are Needed for the Holiday Flip Cocktail?

  • Ginger Spice Whiskey
  • Fernet Branca
  • Cranberry Simple Syrup
  • Egg White
  • Aromatic Bitters

When we tasted the Cask & Crew Ginger Spice Whiskey, we knew we had to highlight the ginger spice and hints of citrus. We decided to couple the whiskey with Fernet Branca. Fernet Branca is an amaro, famous for its funky mix of herbs and botanicals that brings a dark earthy bitterness that makes for interesting edges in a whiskey cocktail recipe.

If you are Looking for More Whiskey Cocktails

We knew with two pretty bold flavored spirits that we needed to lighten the drink up a bit. We wanted something that would be a little sweet and tart to help round out those bold spirits. One flavor that we have used for other cocktails is cranberry syrup.

Cranberry Simple Syrup

Cranberry simple syrup is one of our favorite syrups to use around the holidays. Cranberries are one of those signature holiday ingredients, plus it checks both the sweet and tart boxes! The cranberry simple syrup to give more of a festive flavor and sweeten up the drink. Adding an egg white created a luxurious foam and created a velvety texture that made the Holiday Ginger Whiskey Flip into a real festive treat!

I need to get my hands on some of this Ginger Spice Whiskey for my holiday bar cart! It sounds absolutely fantastic. I love that it's a blend of rye and corn whiskeys, and that it has a touch of citrus in it. Fantastic. This cocktail will be perfect for when we have friends in over the next few weeks. I think everyone will want to check out the bottle, too!

Ooooooh I like this. Love a good whiskey cocktail, and there's so much here that goes beyond the typical stuff you see at this time of the year. Love that you used Fernet Branca, and I love the foamy egg white addition too. It's got such a warm, spice-driven holiday sort of vibe, but with tons of depth and character. Cheers!

Holidays are always a great time to try different cocktails. Your Ginger Whiskey Flip sounds delicious! Seeing an egg white in a cocktail is new to me. Normally we are just wine drinkers -- but reading some of your cocktails really tempts me to expand on our drinks and try some of them out. Thank you for the inspiration.
