A perfect fall cocktail, but great for anytime of year with the fresh grapefruit juice, this Apple Cider Brandy Sidecar is wonderful!

Our children are obsessed with apple cider, so needless to say, we have a lot of it in our house. Conveniently, we just happen to live near a whole bunch of orchards where they make lots of really delicious fresh apple cider! With such a great ingredient easily accessible, it is no wonder that apple cider somehow keeps finding its way into our evening cocktails!

What is a Classic Brandy Sidecar?

Our Apple Cider Sidecar is variation of the classic Sidecar cocktail which uses brandy as its base spirit. The Sidecar has been around since the end of World War I, where it was originally found on the menu at the Ritz in Paris. This libation proved to be popular with many of the soldiers who found themselves in Paris on R&R and the sidecar soon found its way to their home countries.

The Sidecar became such a classic that it is recognized by the International Bartenders Association as one of their Unforgettable Cocktails!

If You are Looking for a Classic Cocktail, Try These!

Best Sidecar Recipe

Originally, the Sidecar called for a really simple recipe, calling for equal parts of cognac, Cointreau and lemon juice, and is this simplicity that makes for a great classic cocktail. Its simplicity also makes for a great starting point for building new variations! So, for our Apple Cider Sidecar, we started with the classic Sidecar recipe and added in Apple Cider to give it a real fall flavor.

Cocktail Picks

Brandy and apples is a classic pairing, and in our Apple Cider Sidecar, its easy to see why! Also, the apple cider gives a nice crisp tang to the sweetness of the brandy while the Cointreau adds a hint of rich orange. Fresh squeezed lemon adds a note of brightness that brings the whole cocktail together.

What Ingredients do you Need for an Apple Cider Sidecar?
