A refreshing blackberry and whiskey fizz cocktail!
With fresh fruit everywhere in the stores right now, we have been looking for some cocktails that would be good candidates for a warm summer evening (yes, it’s still summer!). We found a great deal on some blackberries this weekend, so we set out to make a nice drink that would be light and refreshing.

A classic combination is whiskey and blackberry, we came up with this nice drink. Our first iteration of this cocktail was years ago, and honestly that was still when we made what we affectionately refer to as “sugar bombs”. We no longer like those very much, except maybe in tiki cocktails, so we had to redo this one!
What Ingredients are Needed for the Blackberry Whiskey Fizz?
- Blackberry Mint Juice
- Lemon Juice
- Club Soda
We redid it by adding in some Cynar, which is artichoke liqueur, so it added a little sweet, but spicy note. Then, we added fresh lemon juice, which gave some acid to the mix! And then, we added in some sweetened blackberry juice, flavored with a bit of fresh mint, which made it great for summer, but gave an herbal flavor to the whiskey fizz.
We loved the new flavor combination, and it brought out the whiskey as well. We can’t wait for you to try this one, and we will be having more of them asap!

A delightful cocktail with bourbon and blackberries!
For the Cocktail
- 1.50 oz Bourbon
- Club soda to top - about 2 ounces
- .75 oz Cynar
- .25 oz lemon juice
- blackberry mint juice - about 1 oz
Blackberry Mint Juice
- 8 fresh blackberries
- 1 Tbsp sugar
- 4 mint leaves
Blackberry Bourbon Fizz Cocktail
Pour the bourbon, blackberry juice, lemon juice and cynar into a shaker with ice.
Strain into a rocks glass with ice.
Top with club soda.
Garnish with a mint sprig or a blackberry.
For the Blackberry Juice
Place the blackberries into a bowl with the sugar.
Mash the blackberries with the sugar. Add in mint leaves and let sit to bring out the flavor for about 5 minutes.
Take the pulp and juice and press it thru a fine mesh strainer to remove the seeds.
