Strawberry Bourbon Smash Cocktail

Since lots of stuff on Valentine’s Day ends up being pink, we wanted to make a drink that would be a little different. Some guys might shy away from a pink drink, so we wanted a drink that anyone would feel comfortable sipping. Making a nice bourbon drink keeps it “manly” while the use of strawberries keeps it elegant. This easy cocktail has depth of flavor and is a great bourbon highball recipe. 

Combining bourbon and strawberries, this drink has a great balance between the sweet and tart of the fresh strawberries and the bourbon. A good whiskey gives it a boozy hit to make this drink perfect for a bourbon lover.

 

Rich simple syrup and ginger liqueur add some sweetness. A few dashes of bitters brings a hint of spice and complexity to the strawberry bourbon cocktail, making this drink come to life. Try ginger liqueur in some more cocktails like our Woodsman, Ginger Snap and Ginger Cherry Smash!

Tips & Tricks 

• Garnish – fresh berries like obviously a ripe strawberry is perfect. But, a lemon wheel, orange peel, sprig of mint or other fresh mint is great!
• Glasses – this strawberry whiskey sour is perfect in a highball glass. This delicious drink is best with fresh ice and topped with club soda is easiest in a taller glass. 
• Sweetener – we used regular simple syrup in this one, but you can use strawberry syrup to zhuzh up the berry flavor. Maple syrup can also work.
