A whole new Mixologist Monday, and this time, it’s with Kevin Chen of Chenaholic! Kevin always brings color and super tasty cocktails to his Instagram feed, so we can’t wait for you to check this one out!

So, here’s Kevin!

Tell us about yourself! How did you get into cocktails?

I currently work full time as a producer for a mobile game company. Much like what I do with my mixology page, part of my work involves curating fresh new content for our audience to enjoy every day. I actually got into cocktails after I had a sip of my first cocktail at a company event.

I instantly fell in love with the taste and I didn’t want to just drink more, I wanted to try making it myself! I started with the basics and wanted to post my learning experience on Instagram. 300 drinks later and here I am!

  • Whiskey Sour
  • Daiquiri

How do you come up with drinks? What is your inspiration?

Oftentimes I like to pick a flavor that I’m craving, such as coffee or raspberries, and build a drink around that. I love experimenting with different flavors and combinations and seeing what works and what doesn’t.

I definitely get a lot of my inspiration from Instagram as well, with so many talented mixologists who share amazing techniques and recipes, I’m always tempted to try them all.

Tell us one fun/interesting or weird fact about yourself

Besides making drinks as a hobby, I am also an avid climber, and frequent most of the indoor bouldering gyms around the Bay Area.

If you could have a drink with anyone in the world who would it be?

I’d love to have a drink with Keanu Reeves!

Tell us 3 Instagrams or blogs that you love to follow

There are too many to name! But I am a big fan of

Morten @Thecocktail.blog

Matthias @servedbysoberon and

Marisa @whats.marisa.drinking.

They create the most beautiful content and I am always inspired when I come across their posts.

Have a Recipe to Share with Us?

I recently started a series on my page that teaches a few cocktail basics. One of my posts talked about the importance of balance, and the drink I made for it has since become my go-to for a quick tipple:

Chocolate Tightrope

2 oz Bourbon
.5 oz Amaro
.25 oz Creme de Cacao
2 dash Chocolate Bitters

Stir all ingredients with plenty of ice. Strain into a chilled coupe glass and garnish.

Thanks, Kevin from Chenaholic! Make sure to give him a follow! Hope you all loved this post! More Mixologist Mondays to come soon!
