Last Updated on March 3, 2021 by The ‘Noms.A classic combo of gin and jam in this cocktail. Super easy to make with just 4 ingredients, this cocktail is easily customizable and tasty!
Gin, fruit jam or jelly (maybe a bit of simple syrup if needed), and a little lemon juice, that’s all that is needed for this simple, and delicious cocktail!
The gin and jam can be super sweet, because many recipes call for simple syrup, (as we give the option of here) but, most of the time the jam brings plenty of natural sweetness to the drink. But, if you need a dash more sweet, just add a 1/4 oz simple syrup.

This is also a great way to use up any almost empty jam jars, you can make a cocktail with that last spoonful. The beauty of this cocktail is that it can use any flavor of jam or jelly you like. But, as in most things, the better the jam, the better your cocktail. If you have any homemade jam, it would put this drink even better!
Gin and Jam
This Gin and Jam cocktail is ridiculously simple to make. Gin, lemon juice and simple syrup (optional) form the base, then a spoonful of jam makes this cocktail a choose-your-own-adventure drink!
The jam lets you add sweetness at any level that you want. If you want it sweeter, add more, if less sweet, add less. Just use whatever you’ve got in the fridge, or plan like we did, and buy some delish fig jam!
Again, a great thing with this cocktail is the variety. Try different jams like fig, apricot, peach, or even orange marmalade. This jam cocktail can be perfect for pleasing everyone! Just use your favorite jam, jelly, preserves or marmalade. Anything you call it, it can be a delicious ingredient to add!
Just remember that any jam or preserve has a different level of sweetness. The simple syrup is optional, but so is the amount of jam, so just play around with the right amount that has the right level of sweetness for you!
Note that fruit butters probably won’t shake up well in this, so those we would avoid, even though they are tasty!
It also is a great cocktail to make at a party. Being so simple and less than 4 ingredients makes it easy to shake up and serve. So you don’t have to be bartending all night with 20 ingredients!
It’s a drink you can enjoy all year round! It can be a great summer gin cocktail, or a festive winter sipper! Just change the jam and you have a winner with different flavors!
Also note, that if you have chunks of fruit in your jam, or seeds, you may have to double strain (use the mesh strainer) when straining from your shaker. Otherwise you will have chunks and seeds you have to strain through your teeth! That’s not party sexy!
Garnish simply with a lemon peel or the fruit of the jam that you are using, if it is in season. If not, we won’t judge you!
