This Blood Orange Gimlet cocktail is the perfect pink cocktail for the winter or Valentine’s Day! This is such a fun cocktail with blood orange and rosemary!

We love a good Gimlet around here! Simple and delicious, this 4 ingredient cocktail is a must make, and can be made with either a good London Dry Gin, or vodka.

When blood oranges are in season, making this Blood Orange Gimlet with fresh squeezed blood orange juice is necessary! Traditionally, a gimlet is made with gin or vodka and sweetened lime juice. Simple, right?! Yep!

Blood Orange Season

This Blood Orange Gimlet is a great drink to enjoy during the winter when they are in season and wonderfully fresh to juice! Blood Oranges are available December-May in some places, but we seem to only get them for 2 months or so here in Omaha, so it’s a limited and delicious cocktail we make over and over with fresh juice. Great in our Blood Orange Gin Fizz, too!

Blood Orange Gimlet

A beautiful pink color when mixing that fresh squeezed blood orange juice with the lime, simple syrup and gin, this is the perfect winter sip or perfectly romantic for Valentine’s Day! We used rosemary simple syrup, as we wanted to give it even more of a winter feel, and we always equate rosemary with winter flavors.

Plus, blood orange and rosemary together are Chef’s Kiss! If you use a London Gin that is dry and light, and full of botanical flavors. This allows the fresh juices and rosemary simple syrup to shine!

Can this Blood Orange Gimlet be Served in a Pitcher?

Sure! Great for parties or brunch, this is a great option! Start by multiplying the ingredients based on the amount of people or servings.

Then you can mix the ingredients together in a pitcher and chill in the fridge overnight if you would like. When it’s time to serve, pour into coupes!

What if Blood Oranges aren’t in Season?

If blood oranges are not in season, there are a couple of options for you.  Martinelli’s has a sparkling blood orange juice that could work, and then you have a sparkling Blood Orange Gimlet.

Or, you can substitute the blood orange juice for another orange juice. We have found that clementine juice, or Cara Cara oranges work great in this!
