Usually Hot Buttered Rum or bourbon has a butter batter that has spices mixed in. But with this one we did a variation on the classic and just used a pat of butter in the hot drink. So then, we also added cider to make it a fall and winter flavored treat!
So, then we mulled the cider with cinnamon and cloves along with some lemon juice, and we definitely didn’t need to add sugar, as the apple cider was sweet enough.
We always have fresh cider in the house in the fall and winter, and mulled cider is a favorite of the kids, too!
This is definitely a drink for all you whiskey lovers out there!
This Hot Buttered Bourbon is a nice and caffeine free alternative to a spiked coffee to finish off a meal or night with friends. Perfect warm winter drink!
Cheers!
