Homemade Orange Vanilla Simple Syrup Recipe

Simple Syrups are the easiest way to add fun flavors to drinks and cocktails! This is another great one!

Bright, citrusy, and just sweet enough, this easy recipe brings together fresh orange juice, fragrant orange zest, and vanilla extract for the best flavor in drinks and cocktails.

Unlike store bought syrups, we love syrups is made in small batches, to get fresh results every time. Plus, it comes together in minutes on the stove with just a small saucepan and a few pantry staples. Try our Orange Cinnamon Syrup, Pear Syrup or Spiced Cranberry Syrup, too!

Orange Vanilla Simple Syrup

Start by combining sugar and orange juice, and in a saucepan. As it simmers gently, add in the orange zest. Once the sugar has dissolved and brought to a boil, cook down until reduced slightly, and the syrup sticks to the back of the spoon. Then, remove from the heat and stir in vanilla extract.

Vanilla adds flavor that balances the brightness of the orange, and makes the syrup taste a little like a creamsicle.

 

Let the syrup cool to room temperature before straining out the zest. Once strained, store in a jar or sealed bottle for up to 2 weeks in the fridge.

Yield: 1.5 cups

Orange Vanilla Simple Syrup

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes

This Orange Vanilla Simple Syrup is a great addition to fall and winter cocktails and drinks. The orange juice is bright and ctirusy, and the vanilla adds a warmth that will be great in any drink!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1 cup sugar
  • zest of one medium orange
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Combine orange juice and sugar in small sauepan over medium heat.
  2. Once simmering, add orange zest and stir.
  3. Bring to a boil, take off of heat.
  4. Add in vanilla extract. Strain.
  5. Store in a jar or sealed bottle.
  6. Store in fridge for up to 2 weeks.
  7. Cheers!

Notes

No need to strain your fresh orange juice, as you will strain the syrup.
