Need something to warm up with? Try this Bourbon Coffee!

With the snowflakes flying, those winter evenings with friends call for some warming winter cheer. We love the classic standard of coffee and Baileys Irish Cream to beat the chill, but it is always nice to have another option to share with our friends. We recently had friends over for dinner, and with one of our friends being a big whiskey and bourbon fan, we decided to try a different take on the classic spiked coffee to make a bourbon coffee.

While Irish coffee is a popular and delicious hot cocktail, bourbon coffee is less common but no less delicious once you find the right mix, as the caramel sweetness and hints of vanilla and spice in the bourbon can pair up well with coffee.

Bourbon Coffee

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 3 minutes
Total Time: 13 minutes

A decadent hot boubon coffee topped with amaretto whipped cream.

Ingredients

  • orange zest
  • 1.50 oz bourbon
  • 4-6 oz freshly brewed coffee
  • amaretto whipped cream
  • .50 tsp granulated sugar
  • dash of cinnamon and nutmeg

Instructions

Preheat the mug with some hot water. Preheating the cup helps warm the bourbon, releasing a nice aroma that brings out the flavors. Dump out the water when ready to make cocktail.

Pour in bourbon then pour hot coffee on top, filling the mug about 3/4 of the way up. Stir in sugar, then top with whipped cream.

Sprinkle a bit of cinnamon and nutmeg on top of the whipped cream.

Finish with some orange zest, serve immediately.

Cheers!

That's a coffee I'd love to try. If I have spiked coffee, it was always the Irish kind.

It really does help beat the chill. It is a nice change from the Bailey's and Coffee.
