One of our favorite summer cocktails, a Blueberry Cucumber Moscow Mule Cocktail – a great combo of fresh blueberries and cucumbers with vodka and ginger beer!

We have a whole bunch of spring birthdays, and with our family and friends never missing a chance to throw a shindig, we get tasked with bringing the beverages for the various events. While we can get a way with bringing the same drinks every now and then, after a while, we need to change it.

Of all the cocktails we make, our most requested drinks for us to make when we go to parties or family events is to make some variation on a Moscow Mule, as they can be tailored to the various seasonal ingredients and flavors easily, plus folks seem to love the combinations that we come up with. With the days slowly starting to get warm again, we wanted to find a drink that would bring some of the light flavors of spring to the table.

Blueberry Cucumber Moscow Mule Cocktail

Knowing that our friends were big Moscow Mule fans, we decided that we would bring a Blueberry Cucumber Moscow Mule as one of the drink options. Little did we know that these drinks would be a big enough hit that we should we should have brought about three times the ingredients we did!

Ginger Beer

What Ingredients are Needed for the Blueberry Cucumber Moscow Mule?

  • Cucumbers
  • Blueberries
  • Lime Juice
  • Ginger Beer
  • Vodka

For this drink we muddle the sweet fruity flavor of blueberries and the cool of a young cucumber to add a refreshing spring flavor to the classic Moscow Mule. Blueberries and cucumbers are very complementary, and when you add in a splash of fresh squeezed lime, the combination really comes to life with a nice interplay between the sweet, tart blueberries and the crisp bright lime.

Copper Mugs / Cocktail Picks

We like to use fairly small early season cucumbers. These tend to be sweeter, have less seeds and tend to be more tender. We try to avoid a lot of the big cucumbers as they they tend to have lots of seeds (which isn’t the greatest thing to have floating around in your drink) and they can get a bitter bite that can make the cucumber flavor a bit unpleasant.
