This Ornament Cocktail is full of fresh holiday flavors that is tart and refreshing, with special festive cheer. Entertain your guests with an interactive cocktail during the holiday season with this delicious Christmas martini served in a clear ornament!

Serving a cocktail in an ornament is a fun way to make Christmas martinis look even more festive! Plus, it’s a great way to entertain because you can have the martinis pre-made so you are not the bartender all day. When making your cocktail, you can make 2-3 cocktails at a time. Then shake, and evenly distribute into the ornaments.

This cranberry and rosemary cocktail is perfect for a holiday party or Christmas Eve. Make these alongside other easy winter-inspired recipes like a classic eggnog cocktail, peppermint martinis, hot toddies or holiday sangria!

This holiday ornament cocktail would be great as a wintery touch for ornament exchanges or as an idea for themed cocktails. Try some other cranberry cocktails like our Christmas Old Fashioned, Cranberry Aperol Spritz, Cranberry Pineapple Margarita, Mistletoe Martini or Yule Mule!

Ingredients Needed for the Ornament Cocktails

Just an easy five ingredients, this Christmas cocktail is a top choice for your happy holidays.

  • Gin or Vodka – this holiday cocktail can be made with either gin or vodka. If using gin, we recommend a London Dry Gin, which will make it a less sweet cocktail. Vodka, any brand will do, use your favorite.
  • Cranberry Juice – this tart, red juice adds a great tart flavor to the cocktail, plus makes a great pink color for the drink, like a classic cosmopolitan. Make our Cranberry Rosemary Old Fashioned, too!
  • Lemon Juice – as always, fresh squeezed is best. This adds more citrus flavor and adds more tart to the drink as well.
  • Rosemary Simple Syrup – this simple syrup is easy to make, we even have a great rosemary simple syrup recipe for you! An easy way to add some great winter flavor to this cocktail. Plus, easily made with a cup of water and cup sugar in a small saucepan. Also save at least a sprig of fresh rosemary as a garnish.
  • Moscato or Prosecco – either will do, but we recommend a sweeter sparkling wine like moscato or prosecco. Dry wine will make this ornament cocktail recipe almost too dry and tart. This part of the presentation is not to be added to the ornament ball, just to the cocktail glass after the filled ornaments have been poured in.

How to Make the Ornament Cocktail

This clear ornament recipe can be made ahead of time (without the addition of bubbles), and stored to chill in the fridge, or placed on ice.

Simply combine all the ingredients except for moscato in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake, then use a funnel to strain the cocktail into the ornament. Cap the ornament if you would like, or not.

When ready to serve, place in serving glass. You can add rosemary sprigs and fresh cranberries like we did, if you would like. Then, pour the ornament contents into the ice filled glass. Top with moscato or prosecco, about 2 ounces.

If you are serving for a crowd, you can also leave the ornaments on some ice and let people decorate their own glasses, and pour their own striking cocktails if you would like. Makes being a host even easier. Just leave the garnishes, extra ice, glasses and more all on a table and let people serve themselves.

Tips & Tricks

  • Juice – If you don’t want to use cranberry juice, we suggest a pomegranate juice or cherry juice substitute. You can use cranberry juice or cranberry juice cocktail, or even white cranberry juice, but the cocktail won’t be pink.
  • Liquor – Go for your favorite London Dry Gin, Vodka or different alcohol of choice. But, a good substitute could be a citrus vodka, cranberry vodka, or citrus gin.
  • Garnishes – garnishes are optional, but we especially love the rosemary sprigs and cranberries in the glass. You could also add sugared cranberries on a cocktail pick to the top of the glass. If you are using a tall glass like we did, we suggest a straw. Other suggestions could be pomegranate seeds, cinnamon sticks, orange slice or lemon slice and more rosemary sprigs. If you want to make it super fancy, and like a holiday decoration, you could add some edible glitter. You could even tie some trendy velvet bows on the top of the clear glass ornament, or in martini glasses, on the stem of the glass.
  • Ornaments – you can use plastic ornaments or glass ornaments, whichever you prefer. We prefer plastic, especially when entertaining, so there is less chance of breakage. As long as the ornament is clear, there is no glitter or decoration, you can use it. Before using, rinse and wash the inside of the ornaments. Then, when pouring in the cocktail, use a funnel! If you don’t have a food safe funnel, you can use a measuring cup with a spout and pour carefully! Leave some room in the ornament to prevent spillage, and plus, this recipe won’t fill it all the way, anyway.
  • Chill Ingredients – when serving these classy cocktails, make sure to chill all the ingredients before shaking. Or, mix them and keep on ice or in the fridge to keep cool before serving. Easy to keep them upright in a towel lined baking dish or in a bowl. No one wants to pour a warm drink. Also, make sure those bubbles are chilled, too. These are so easy to make ahead before your holiday celebration. Simply scale up to serve all your guests.
  • Glassware – to serve, you may want a tall and wide glass, especially if you are adding rosemary sprigs and cranberries. So, we suggest large drinking glasses, goblets or highballs. But, if you want to be fancy, serve in a martini glass or cocktail coupe.
  • Ornament Mocktails – you can make these mocktails super easily. Simply leave out the gin or vodka. Then, after pouring this holiday twist drink into your glass, add ginger beer or club soda. Try our Sparkling Pine Cranberry Mocktail, too!
