A great cold treat for a hot summer night in these 2 fresh fruit sorbet.
We have been having one of those summers where even the nights are hot and we have really been really into frozen treats. Of course, we have had some deliciously creamy treats and some adult popsicles, but we haven’t had any fruity treats. Similarly, we knew we could make some delicious fresh fruit sorbets that would be a refreshing cold treat. It would be sure to beat the heat for us, too!
Also, we had just gotten in some syrups from Amoretti to try out that would work perfectly with the fruit we had. With some fresh blackberries and a watermelon right from the farmer’s market, we decided to make two sorbets. The flavors are Blackberry and Violet Lavender Sorbet and a Watermelon Boysenberry Sorbet.

We got in some of their premium syrups to try out right when we were thinking about making some sorbets for dessert. This of course was on one of the recent hot nights we were dealing with. One of the syrups was Amoretti’s Boysenberry syrup, which we thought would work really well with fresh watermelon.
We added in some Boysenberry syrup to some frozen watermelon chunks and fresh squeezed lime juice, pureed it, and bam! Watermelon Boysenberry Sorbet! The sweet berry flavor worked really well with watermelon and lime. The boysenberry adding a fresh berry sweetness that made this fruit sorbet a real favorite in our household.
Our second sorbet, the Blackberry Lavender Violet Sorbet was inspired by one of our recent cocktails, The Brandy and Blackberry Lavender Shrub. In Which, we first discovered the wonderful combination that is blackberry and lavender. For the Blackberry Lavender Violet fruit Sorbet, we started by freezing some fresh blackberries then mixing in Amoretti’s Lavender Violet syrup and fresh squeezed lemon juice in the food processor.
The sweet tart blackberries work really well with the floral flavors, while the lemon juice adds a nice brightness that makes this sorbet a great summer treat!
Blackberry Lavender Violet
- 4 oz blackberries, frozen
- 1/4 tsp lemon juice
- 1 1/2 Tbsp Lavender Violet Simple Syrup
- 2 Tbsp boysenberry simple syrup
- 1/2 Tbsp lime juice
- 1 cup watermelon, cut into 1/2 inch cubes, frozen
Pre-freeze your fruit until you are ready to blend.
In a food processor or blender, process fruit until they are small chunks and add in simple syrup and juice.
Serve immediately or store in freezer until ready to serve.
