A new grocery store opening in Omaha!

Being food bloggers, grocery shopping is kind of a big deal in our house, so when a new grocery store chain opens in Omaha, we always will be to check them out and see what they have to offer. This week, Family Fare Supermarkets opened eight new stores in the Omaha area and we headed to one of the stores to check out their Grand Opening festivities and do a little shopping!

This aisle offered lots of special items like Kosher, Gluten Free and Organic!

Omaha’s eight new Family Fare Supermarkets were previously Bag N’ Save and No Frills, and the locations have been fully remodeled. However the differences are more than just cosmetic, with Family Fare updating the stores’ offerings and bringing expanded specialty sections that will bring new options to Omaha shoppers.

One of these new options can be found in the Living Well sections that are new to the stores and will offer a wide array of natural, organic, gluten-free, and wellness-oriented products, which will cater to shoppers looking to change, improve their lifestyle or manage a special diet.

A good example was found in the store we visited, where there was a whole aisle that offered Kosher items, gluten free items and other “free from” goods. The selection of these items was very extensive and there were lots of brands that interested us.

The selection of produce was big! There was even exotic fruit!

We also noticed that Family Fare offered a much bigger selection of produce, both regular and organic produce than was previously offered by Bag N Save. The produce we found all looked really fresh and they offered a very wide variety. We even found a couple of exotic fruits that we hadn’t ever seen in person (some really cool looking Kiwano Melons!)

Family Fare Supermarkets will also be offering a 200% Freshness Guarantee, that says if you aren’t satisfied with the quality of your produce, you can bring it back and they will exchange it for better produce and refund your purchase price!

Family Fare will also be offering their YES card (Your Exclusive Savings) loyalty program which will not only bring special exclusive digital coupons and in store savings but offer other perks like fuel points (redeemable at places like Quik Trip), Family Fare Rewards (special savings on exclusive brands) and shopping clubs that will bring additional rewards when you purchase certain categories of items (Baby Club, Cheese Club, Cereal).

After we signed up for the YES card (you can sign up for your own YES card by clicking here!) one of the specialty clubs we signed up for was the Milk Club. With two growing boys in our house, we drink lots of milk, so the Milk Club caught our attention as members of this club can get a FREE gallon of milk after buying 4 other gallons over time! This could mean a lot of free milk in our house!

Family Fare offers a huge selection of wine and spirits!

Of course readers of our blog know that we have a pretty big interest in wine, beer and spirits, and Family Fare Supermarkets has expanded their selection of wine and spirits, especially concentrating on offering lots of local selections.  We checked out the liquor and spirits section and were impressed with the selection and with the offerings from a lot of local wineries, distilleries and breweries.

We were also excited to see that if you buy 4 bottles of wine, you get a 10% discount, which is a pretty darn good deal!

Each store will be giving away a lot of great prizes!

There are a lot of great prizes offered at each store as well as a couple of big prizes exclusively for members of the YES club who use their card between July 20th and August 31st, 2016 will be entered in to a drawing for a trip to the 2017 Pro Football Championship in Houston, TX as well as a chance to win groceries for a year! 1. I just visited the newly remodeled Family Fare store in Council Bluffs and it looks so much nicer there. I was impressed with the produce dept and new selections of beer and wine. I shop here a lot so it will be nice to use the Yes card.

  2. I went on Wednesday when they had their grand opening. I love the new layout at the Valley View CB location and it’s so close to my work (Iowa Western). The line for the Yes card was really long at the time but I can’t wait to sign up another time!
