Last Updated on March 25, 2024 by Leah Hall

This Rosemary Cocktail is perfect for the holiday season, as well as all winter long with the combination of rosemary, fresh pear flavor, ginger and gin!

When celebrating the holidays flavors like cranberry, orange, cinnamon, and mint always seem to pop up in holiday drinks. We wanted to break out of the mold Rosemary’s Pear might just become your new holiday cocktail! Other than our Christmas Old Fashioned!

It embraces some of the lesser, but no less delicious holiday flavors as a rosemary cocktail with gin and ginger beer. This delicious cocktail is crisp and spicy. It has just the right amount of tart to keep you coming back for more.

With pear nectar and rosemary simple syrup blending beautifully with a clean crisp gin and a bit of spicy ginger beer adding warmth, the Rosemary’s Pear might be a better gift for your true love than a partridge in a pear tree! Other holiday cocktails we think you will like are the Holiday Ginger Flip, Mistletoe Martini, Holiday Punch and Mountain Pine Gin & Tonic.

What Ingredients are Needed for the Rosemary Cocktail?

You need just 4 ingredients for this refreshing drink. Honestly perfect for a hot summer day as well as a season cocktail recipe for Christmas happy hour!

  • Pear Nectar – bottled pear nectar is what we used, but you can sure juice your own if you want to.
  • Gin – a nice neutral gin is a great choice, floral isn’t a good choice in this because of all the other flavors. Look for one that has more juniper, which has a piney scent, making it reminiscent of Christmas! London Dry Gin, or even Bombay Sapphire are good choices. You can use these in a Blood Orange Gin Fizz or our 135 East Gin Cocktail.
  • Rosemary Simple Syrup – we have a lovely homemade rosemary simple syrup for you to make. It adds a great fresh rosemary flavor to the pear gin cocktail. Fragranat rosemary goes really well in other cocktails like a rosemary gimlet, rosemary greyhound cocktail recipe, Blood Orange Rosemary Gimlet or Cranberry Rosemary Old Fashioned.
  • Ginger Beer – spicy ginger beer adds a lot of flavor and fizz to the drink. Use your favorite brand. Try it in some other modern twists like the Muddled Blackberry Gin or our Nebraskan!

How to Make the Rosemary Cocktail

This one is super simple to make, but you do need a cocktail shaker to shake some ingredients first. Combine the gin, pear nectar and infused rosemary syrup in a shaker with ice.

Shake and strain into a rocks glass with crushed ice cubes or a large ice ball. Top with ginger beer.

We used Fever Tree’s ginger beer in this cocktail to add a bit of a tart, spicy bite that keeps the sweetness under control and add a warm depth. But, use your favorite brand of ginger beer.

Garnish as you would like, we just used a fresh rosemary sprig. If you want some more pear cocktails try our Pink Pear, Walnut Pear Pie or Pear Vodka Cocktail.

Tips & Tricks

  • Garnish – we used a sprig of rosemary, but some other great choices could be a large slice of pear, or pear slices in a fan shape on a cocktail pick. Or some crystallized ginger, sugared rosemary sprigs, or lemon slice. To make it an even more seasonal cocktail recipe garnish with sugared cranberries!
  • Glassware – we used a rocks glass, but a tall glass like a highball or tumbler works too. Or, for a seasonal touch use a vintage goblet!

Cheers!
